Using the Processing Profile
When you select a title and add it to a list, the Processing Profile information for each title is included based on criteria including:
· The profile you specify in the Processing Profile field. Bibz uses this profile for all selected titles if you do not specify another Processing Profile.
· The profile you specify for each title in the Processing Profile field on the Search Results screen Expanded Display. The profile specified in Expanded Display overrides the profile specified in the Processing Profile field at the top of the screen.
· The profile you specify for each copy using an applied grid template. The profile specified in a grid overrides the profile specified in the Processing Profile field at the top of the screen and title level.
NOTE: Lists transferred to your library's acquisitions system and using an EDI option to submit an order to Brodart are exempt from Processing Profile considerations. If your list is to be submitted as an order using Bibz you MUST be aware of the profile that is selected when you add a title to a list since cataloging and/or processing information recorded for each title is based on that profile. (Note, however, that a Processing Profile can be changed in an OpenList in the Processing Profile field on Expanded Display or for each individual copy when a grid template has been applied).
When selecting titles from Search Results to add to a list:
1. First select the cataloging/processing profile from the Processing Profile field.
As detailed in the section entitled Using Processing Profiles above, you can do the following:
· Select the same profile for all titles by using the Processing Profile field at the top of the screen.
· Select a different profile for individual titles in the Processing Profile field on the Expanded Display Search Results screen.
· Select a different profile for individual copies by using a grid template.
The profile entered in the Processing Profile field is the default entry for all titles unless you specify a different profile at the title or copy level.
Note that a list can include titles with different processing profiles.
2. Select titles from Search Results.
3. Add selected titles to a new or existing list if you wish.
Processing Profile(s) that are no longer valid will display Selected profile is unavailable in Expanded Display, Title Detail Display and for grid users, in grid lines. To edit these invalid profiles, click the control and select a valid profile.
NOTE: The profile you select in the Processing Profile field at the top right of the page remains in effect until you change it. Once you change the Processing Profile, the newly selected profile remains in effect throughout a session.
